Back From the Dead

Greetings,

A belated happy new year to you all.  I've been out of the country for several weeks and on a bit of a hiatus as I did not have the gumption to get to the internet and post anything new.

This blog has been up and running for nearly a year now, and to be honest with you, I've posted most all of the material I had collected over the past few years.  I think there's a pretty solid body of work here.  Not that this site contains all (or even any of) the answers, but I do think it's a good place to begin your search as you find your own answers along the way.

Please take a look at the "categories" section in the left-hand column and dig around for a bit.  I'm convinced you'll find something useful.  I do plan to get to get back into the swing of things and post new material as time goes on.

I wish you all the best as you search and may God bless you on your journey.

One With God

I believe in God or a universal consciousness.

A God who respects no religion.

A God who respects no borders.

A God who respects no nationalities.

A God who respects no social standing.

A God of peace.

A God of love.

When we tune into God, we find peace and love.

God want's nothing but growth for God's ultimate creations:  Us.

We can continue to grow until our consciousness becomes one with God's.

Consciousness develops by looking within ourselves, then serving outside ourselves.

Follow Me -- Not!

I've been doing this web-based spiritual advice thing off and on now for almost seven years.  I was quite surprised recently when I came across the following quote:

"Do not accept authority merely because it comes from a tradition, appearances, a great man, or is written in a sacred book.  Believe only that which you can test for yourself to be wholesome and good."  -- Buddha

I'll be honest, I haven't studied Buddhism in depth, I'm by no means an expert.  The source of my surprise was Buddha's open-mindedness...he didn't say, "I'm enlightened, believe everything I tell you."  Instead it was more "figure it out for yourselves" type of advice.

Seriously, how often do you hear that these days?  Religious leaders, political leaders...they all claim to have all the answers.  They want to do all your thinking for you...just follow them.  Follow the crowd, be a sheep.  That's what they really want.  Oh, one of our priests is having sex with your teenage son...pay no attention, follow us.  Sure we encourage followers to blow themselves up for a quick trip to heaven...don't question it, follow us.   Terrorists lurking around every corner with WMD...be very afraid...and follow us.

I grew up reading the Bible.  Buddha's teaching reminded me of the following (1 Thessalonians 5:21):  "Prove all things; hold fast that which is good."   A similar concept, (and maybe equally surprising) coming from an otherwise rather authoritarian apostle Paul.

That's really the whole point of this blog/website.  My aim has been to assemble enough resources and information for those seeking to break out of the mold someone else created for them and find their own path to enlightenment.  Realize the possibilities and your true potential.

May the universe smile upon your journey.

Miscellaneous Ramblings

Some random thoughts about our overall philosophy I wrote down while on my last visit to the Votkinsk Portal Monastery Facility:

  1. Find your own Zen.
  2. Find your own creative outlet.
  3. Love unselfishly, help good causes.
  4. Spiritual guideposts (good people or good books) can help your journey, incorporate what rings true in your heart and discard the rest.
  5. For optimum performance, balance spiritual, physical, emotional and mental pursuits.
  6. We all get the life we need and deserve.
  7. No gurus!  No priests!  No church!  No violence!  No hatred!

World Beyond Tenets

The soul is eternal.

Life on earth is an opportunity for soul development.

It takes many trips to earth or incarnations for a soul to grow fully.

We've all lived many previous lives.

Reincarnation is the path to soul development.

Each soul helps choose the particular circumstances of incarnation to maximize individual growth potential.

We all have the potential to become one with God.

You reap what you sow, in this life and future lives.

Karma is the law of the universe.

The power of love is real.

Welcome

Small_logo Welcome to the World Beyond web log.  We've had a website since the year 2000,  (www.worldbeyond.org) prior to the explosion of the blogging phenomenon.  Our hope now is to reach a wider readership through the use of these new tools as well as improve interaction.

Honestly, after a few years of creative expansion from 2000-2003 I haven't added very much new content to the World Beyond website.   I now feel "fired up" again, ready to create, and I'm hoping this blog will ease the creative process somewhat.  I recommend continuing to visit the original site, although I do plan on fully integrating the site into this blog over the upcoming weeks.

Please share your thoughts with us and let's build a community that will help lead to a World Beyond.
